WHY ALUMINUM

Aluminum boats are famously tough and rugged, which makes them ideal for those who require uncompromising strength and reliability. Almost all governmental and commercial operations run aluminum vessels for this reason, especially in the Pacific Northwest with our log-riddled waters.

Despite their durability, aluminum boats are also typically lighter than their fibreglass counterparts. This translates to better performance for the same power and enhanced fuel economy.

Furthermore, aluminum boats are infinitely customizable as they’re each built piece by piece. Unlike a fibreglass boat, which is built in a mould with a fixed layout, any part of an aluminum boat can be changed to suit a client’s preferences. This opens up a world of possibilities for possible layouts and arrangements. This is especially useful when building specialty commercial craft for industries like aquaculture, where operators need specific equipment or features like a well deck.

At Walker, we build boats that stay true to their commercial roots while embracing the styling, comforts and conveniences expected of modern yachts.

OUR STORY

Trever Walker grew up fishing the waters off Vancouver Island. These years spent on deck inspired him to build boats that are as tough and utilitarian as they are beautiful and well-appointed.

Also, they needed to be fast, like really fast.

The very first Walker Custom Aluminum Boat was the Rockstar - a high-performance prawn boat designed to rip out, set traps, and get back before anyone else had even warmed up their engines. Before the end of the prawn season, Trever had already secured several orders for more of these high-performance fishing machines.

Officially called the Commercial Sport, this line of prawn boats has become a hallmark of the French Creek fishing fleet. With each new Commercial Sport, people wanted nicer interiors as they would use them for cruising with their families in the off-season. Soon, Walker Boats was outgrowing its original space as the team multiplied and the scope of projects grew bigger and more complicated.

After moving across the road to a much larger facility, Walker Boats gained much-needed breathing room and set to work building and refining innovative new models, such as the Pro Sport Series.

Today we have a large team of talented craftspeople and over 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space. We have invested heavily in our production machines and tooling to meet demand for the high-end yachts and rugged specialty commercial vessels that we’re known for.
